The 65th Legislature will convene January 8, 2019 at Noon. The Join Session of the Legislature and Governor’s State of the State Address will be January 9th at 10:00am. You can visit the Legislative Services Office at wyoleg.gov for information and livestreamed meetings.
As you all know that when bills are proposed we only have a short time to get the information to you and its imperative that you watch for emails coming from the WYOGA office. Laurie will be emailing you talking points that you can include in your email with a recommendation from the board to either oppose or accept the bill as proposed. We will also provide you with the email addresses for the legislators. Bill Novotny along with other board members will be in Cheyenne monitoring and keeping the membership apprised of what’s going on.
In May, Budd Betts met with a regional forester in Denver along with representatives from Colorado Outfitters & Guides Association. The meeting was to begin working on allowing chainsaws in the wilderness. The regional forester stated that from his level that they are working on the use of chain saws in the wilderness, but in order to do that, needs supporting documentation from each association. WYOGA and its members have been invited to participate in this project.
WYOGA Members we need for you to produce the following so that we can build a case:
• We need photos of trees/logs blocking trails.
• Please describe what the dead timber has done to your camps.
• We need this information documented in a log with supporting facts and dates if possible.

The WYOGA Board of Directors suggested that we adopt a new category to include all staff including camp jacks, wranglers, cooks, etc. They work just as hard and deserve recognition. A motion was made at the June 1st board meeting adopting this new award. Information for the Outfitter Staff Award will be included in the big game award packets in February.
